Melungeon Heritage Research Group was founded in 2019. Our purpose as a 501c3 organization is to educate on history and events in African American, Native American, and European American History that resulted in the population of this tri-racial group of people in Colonia Virginia, and beyond.

Melungeon Heritage Research Group Historic Preservation promotes the education and preservation of our Melungeon heritage as a means towards a deeper understanding of our tri-racial roots, thus connecting the descendants of African, Native American, and European families. Our mission as a 501C3 is to educate on the history of events by identifying, designating, protecting, and restoring Melungeon heritage by preserving their historic properties, sites, and objects.
